Davison Fencing were appointed by Caddick Construction to provide permanent fencing solutions, as well as a series of bespoke bin and bike storage enclosures, for the new zero-carbon housing development at Duncombe Barracks in York – the first scheme of its kind delivered by City of York Council.
Duncome Barracks is the City of York Council’s first zero-carbon housing project, with 34 Passivhaus certified homes to be built as energy-efficient and sustainable as possible.
Delivered by Caddick Construction, the project features a mix of terraced houses and apartments constructed using timber-frame structures, solar panels, and air-source heat pumps, surrounded by landscaped gardens and green communal spaces.
Davison Fencing commenced work on site in April 2025, supplying and installing permanent fencing, gates, and bespoke storage enclosures to meet the project’s functional and environmental requirements.
- Timber palisade fencing constructed in British Larch with morticed posts, rails, and flat capping
- Timber mortice & tenon gates and steel-framed, timber-infill gates to match surrounding fencing
- CLD Dulok mesh fencing
- Expanded metal single-leaf gates with Locinox Fortylocks and security fixings
- Bespoke bin and bike stores with sheet steel roofs, expanded metal doors, and sliding gate systems
- Integration of Superlock digital access locks and drop bolts for secure access control
- Additional site enhancements, including rubber door seals and washers to improve gate performance and durability
